MG 4.5 Cocobolo & Bearclaw Sitka Spruce

Sale price$12,900.00

This guitar showcases the unmistakable beauty and power of cocobolo, a tonewood prized for its vivid color, dramatic figuring, and exceptional tonal depth. The cocobolo back and sides deliver a rich, authoritative voice with a deep low end, complex overtones, and a glassy top-end clarity that feels both bold and refined. Visually, each set is entirely unique, with swirling grain and natural contrast that make this guitar as striking to look at as it is to hear.

The Bearclaw Sitka spruce soundboard adds strength, clarity, and dynamic range, chosen for its stiffness and responsiveness as much as its distinctive figuring. This top allows the guitar to handle aggressive playing with ease while remaining articulate and expressive under a lighter touch. Together, these woods create a voice that is powerful yet balanced, with strong projection, exceptional note separation, and a harmonic richness that continues to unfold the longer the guitar is played.

OFFSET SOUND HOLE

Driven by the belief that traditional acoustics could be reimagined, Matt McPherson developed the groundbreaking Offset Soundhole. By positioning the soundhole off-center, the central part of the guitar's soundboard remains longer and uninterrupted, enhancing vibration across the top. The result is greater volume, clarity, and a richer sonic experience for the player.

CANTILEVERED NECK

Every McPherson guitar features a Cantilevered Neck, which is not glued or connected to the top of the guitar, but instead floats above the soundboard. This design allows the soundboard area underneath the fretboard to vibrate freely, which increases the sustain of the guitar.

OVERPASS / UNDERPASS BRACING

McPherson’s unique Overpass/Underpass Bracing System creates a larger, more even space for the top to vibrate. The soundboard’s braces cross each other but never touch or inhibit vibration. This frees the braces to vibrate independently while still lending structural support and maximizing soundboard vibration.

CARBON REINFORCED NECK

The McPherson Carbon Reinforced Neck is praised for its incredible strength and stability and is built around the largest carbon fiber truss rod ever used on a guitar. Attached to the body with a triangulated heel design, it stabilizes the neck and virtually eliminates the need for neck adjustments.
